Most people get wrinkles on their face due to making expressions regularly. The faces we make are often unconscious. Over time, the muscles become tight, and the wrinkle stays there.
Botox works by paralyzing the muscles around the eyes, so the lines between your eyes flatten out. Acupuncture is also effective for this. Botox freezes the muscles, which can cause the eyebrows to tilt up on the ends. I am even seeing women in their twenties with this frozen expression on their face.
Acupuncture is done with tiny needles in the wrinkles. The needles relax the muscles, and they do not have any side effects on the rest of the face. The muscle is not paralyzed after acupuncture, it is simply relaxed.
I like to add a few needles in my patient’s foreheads to relax tight muscles. Acupuncture relaxes the muscles, but it also improves collagen production. Over time the acupuncture improves blood flow to your face, improves collagen production, and relaxes the tight muscles that cause deep wrinkles.
A series of treatments is required, and maintenance is necessary.
